The Cavapoo is a cross between a pure Cavalier King Charles and either a Toy or Miniature Poodle. This is an F1 cross – so 50% Cavalier and 50% Poodle.
The Cavapoo is a loving, friendly and fun breed, which thrives on companionship. It take the placid nature of the Cavalier King Charles and mixes things up with the cheeky but lovable Poodle. It is an intelligent breed which is easily trained. Cavapoos love children, they are playful and have a wonderful temperament and are active enough to go on a good walk or alternatively play happily in the garden with toys. Along with their affectionate outlook on life, they love and thrive on human company; because of this they are not well suited to being left alone at home for long periods of time.
The coat of a Cavapoo should be thick and wavy and low to non-shedding. The coat is high maintenance and needs to be brushed on a regular basis. Cavapoo’s need to be taken to the grooming salon every 6 – 8 weeks.
Unfortunately pure bred Cavaliers are prone to some genetic conditions, for this reason we take health testing very seriously and aim to offer all our Cavapoo puppies the very best opportunity for a long and healthy life. With one parent a poodle the likelihood of these conditions being passed onto a Cavapoo puppy are greatly minimised. It is important for heart health that both Cavaliers and Cavapoos are well exercised and not allowed to become over weight. The lifespan of the Cavapoo is roughly 10 – 15 years.
Cavpoos make an excellent addition to any home, they will live well with other dogs and animals.
